The council’s objective is to monitor all stages of the implementation of commitments made by public institutions and private actors, in accordance with the provisions of the Industrial Programming Pact, which serves as a roadmap for all actions to be undertaken, with the goal of doubling the industrial sector’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2040, from 15% to 30%.
“CNIM marks an important milestone toward sustainable and efficient industrialization,” said Rivo Andriamanalina, President of CNIM. The official launch of CNIM is part of concrete actions aimed at establishing a stable entrepreneurial environment. Technical and financial partners, such as the African Development Bank (AfDB) through the PAISF project, as well as the EDBM, support CNIM’s activities. The members of CNIM are: MIDSP, MEH, MEDD, GEM, GFEM, Symabio, SIM, FIVMPAMA, and GEFP.
CNIM aims to become a tool to guide the country toward sustainable and competitive industrialization. Its objective is, in particular, to implement concrete projects that generate wealth and create jobs through the private sector, which is still considered a key driver of economic growth. This is achieved by setting strategic directions, investment priorities, and coordinating institutions, financial instruments, and monitoring mechanisms for the actions to be undertaken.
CNIM also ensures the coherence of interventions, monitors the fulfillment of commitments, and supports the acceleration of industrial projects. It should be noted that CNIM benefits from the support of the African Development Bank. Donatien Kouassi, country program lead for Madagascar at this financial institution, considers industrialization a crucial element in the country’s development process.
